Coach's Corner - Anthony Casalino

  • Coach Anthony Casalino, entering his first year as head coach of the Bayhawks, assumes the task of reestablishing the St. Dominic softball program after years of non existence.

  • With 20 years of coaching softball for Team Nitro under his belt, Coach Casalino is both optimistic and confident in his vision to create a competitive Long Island powerhouse. Throughout those years he has risen the ranks, starting off with coaching little league up to high school level teams.

  • Coach Casalino has gathered a strong team nucleus to begin his tenure with, setting the groundwork for his goal of bringing in new talent every year and developing both talent and the program to new heights.

Captain's Corner

  • For his first season with the Bayhawks, Coach Casalino opts for a captain-less squad in 2026. Considering the restarting of the program, and a team consisting mostly of freshmen, this is the best option for Casalino and the Bayhawks. This also emphasizes that he wants everyone to step into a leadership role in order for their program to succeed.

Rising Stars

Coach Casalino emphasizes the future and youth of the Bayhawks in 2026, and with that youth comes a flurry of rising stars ready to breakout:

  • Pitcher Zoey Theroux is a dedicated young athlete training to be the best pitcher she can be. Her strong-willed manner and desire to pitch can develop winning habits within the Bayhawk clubhouse

  • Catcher Sofia Gavaris is an offensive powerhouse in the middle of the Bayhawks lineup, lookin to be at the heart of run production for the season

  • Firstbaseman Kali Zakas is a fantastic defender with high softball IQ looking to make quick plays and backup her pitchers for 2026

  • Centerfielder Harper Lynch is the dynamic leadoff hitter for the Bayhawks this season looking to set the tone every game and captain the outfield on the defensive end

  • Shortstop Sarah Martella is the young Bayhawk looking to captain the infield and backup her pitchers with every pitch

  • Thirdbaseman Kiera Acholonu is the Bayhawks versatile, multi-sport athlete with volleyball and basketball who brings her talents from travel ball to the Bayhawks looking to be a difference maker

  • Pitcher/Infielder Gianna Torres is a junior and one of the more experienced players on the team, who plays extremely versatile on the defensive side of the ball looking to add to the Bayhawks already fortified defense
